Agriculture and Disability, let's open up the field of possibilities
Agricultural jobs are often perceived as physical and unsuitable for people with disabilities. However, while agriculture is struggling to recruit, solutions are possible whether the disability is visible or not. The “Handi-CAP towards agriculture!” project aims to break these preconceived ideas through innovative actions:
- A collection of 8 testimonies on disability in agriculture, adapted into “Easy to Read and Understand” and soon in audio version,
- Podcasts,
- Practical sheets,
- A traveling photo exhibition “New Perspectives on Disability in Agriculture”,
- Events to create links between farmers, employers, employees, job seekers and young people in training with disabilities, with the presence of a sign language interpreter if necessary.
These supports have never been offered in agriculture. This global approach gives it its innovative and original dimension with the ambition of preventing, raising awareness and acting for the real inclusion of people with disabilities in the sector.
